Buddy Walk 2010
The 3nd annual Treasure Coast Down Syndrome Awareness Group Buddy Walk was truly a success!!

More that 300 people registered and participated in the walk. The community, friends and family support was amazing. So far we’ve raised $5,700 on line, $3,900 at Registration and $1500 at the raffle table.
Great Job everyone. Several families said they were just getting started with their fund raising, so the donation website will remain open for another month or so and donations can also be sent to TCDSAG, PO Box 326, Hobe Sound, FL 33475.
To reach our goal of clearing $10,000 we need to raise about $3,000 more to cover expenses. I know we can do it. Our local parent support group will benefit from the funding with support for educational workshop expenses, speakers, Christmas Party and Summer Picnic. We will continue distributing brochures to the hospitals, OBGYNS and Pediatricians and “New Parent Packets” to families.
We also use this funding for our website and communication. A 7% portion of the proceeds will go to the National Down Syndrome Society who established the Buddy Walk in 1995 to celebrate Down Syndrome Awareness Month in October.
The Buddy Walk promotes acceptance and inclusion of people with Down syndrome. The Buddy Walk has grown from 17 walks in 1995 to more than 275 in 2010 across the country and around the world. More than $ 7 million has been raised to benefit national education, research and advocacy efforts as well as local programs.
